Plastic model car kit: Toyoda Model AA 1:24 Tamiya 24339
The Toyota AA is the first mass-produced passenger car by Toyota (then still the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works - an automated weaving workshop). The vehicle was produced from 1936 to 1943 in Japan. Built as a 4-door sedan, entirely from metal materials - which was modern technology compared to car designs from the 1920s, based on a wooden frame. The rear doors of the car opened backward (so-called suicide doors). The Model AA was replaced in 1943 by the AC, which had only a few minor changes compared to its predecessor.
Toyota wanted to showcase the Model AA for its 50th anniversary (in 1987), but no specimen was found (out of a total of 1404 produced) - ultimately, a replica was made, although it was a daunting task due to significant gaps in documentation. Ultimately, a replica was created, equipped with a 6-cylinder, inline (R6) Toyota 2M engine with a displacement of 2.3l, and is displayed in the Toyota Museum - in Nagakute, Japan.
Currently, only one specimen of this car is known to have survived to this day - it was accidentally found in 2008 in Russia, in very poor condition and with a chassis and drivetrain borrowed from the GAZ-51 model. This specimen, in its unchanged state, is displayed at the Louwman Museum in the Netherlands.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
