Plastic military model kit: Sd.Kfz.221 1:72 First To Fight PL048
The German light armored car Sd.Kfz.221 is an icon of the Wehrmacht reconnaissance units from the early period of World War II. This vehicle was designed in the mid-1930s as a maneuverable and fast reconnaissance vehicle for armored and motorized divisions. It was characterized by four-wheel drive and a specific, open-topped turret protected by an anti-grenade mesh.
History and construction of the original:
- Serial production lasted from 1935-1944, and the total number of units produced in the 221/222/223 series was about 2150.
- The Sd.Kfz.221 was powered by a Horch V8 engine with 80 HP (later 90 HP), which provided it with excellent off-road mobility.
- The armament of the 221 version was a single MG34 machine gun, 7.92 mm caliber, mounted in a rotating turret.
- The crew consisted of two people: a driver and a commander who also served as the gunner.
- These vehicles took part in combat on almost all fronts, from the September Campaign in Poland, through fighting in France and North Africa, to the Eastern Front.

- Scale: 1:72

- Historical period: World War II
